Signature Therapeutic Massage
My signature therapeutic massage is a massage tailored to your needs based on your condition today. Each massage is customized just for you. The massage can be a blend of Swedish, deep tissue, trigger point therapy, sports massage techniques, stretching and reflexology. I will discuss with you what type of massage you would like and the outcome you are hoping to achieve prior to your massage. Pressure can be as light or as deep as you would like.
An ancient technique, developed in Japan, Shiatsu is a "finger pressure" technique based on the holistic system of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where illness is thought to result from imbalances in the natural flow of energy (qi) throughout the body. Utilizing traditional acupuncture points, Shiatsu balances the body's energy and opens pathways (meridians) with acupressure and gentle, passive, assisted stretching. This treatment brings about a sense of relaxation while stimulating blood and lymphatic flow. The benefits of this treatment may include pain relief and a strengthening of the body's resistance to disease and disorder. The treatment is performed on a futon mat. Please wear athletic wear, including long pants and a shirt. (sweat pants, yoga pants, etc. No shorts please.)
Thai Yoga Massage is a modern day evolution and fusion of Traditional Thai Massage. This modality can be a comfortable way to get the necessary stretching we all need. Thai Yoga Massage uses passive-assisted stretching where the therapist assists the recipient without exceeding their comfort level. The stretching movements in Thai Yoga Massage affect the recipient’s entire body by improving flexibility, releasing both superficial and deep muscular tension, while encouraging deep relaxation and quieting of the mind. The result leaves the recipient feeling both relaxed and energized at the same time. Thai Massage can be performed on the floor on a mat or on the table for those clients who have a difficult time getting up and down from the floor. Please wear athletic wear, including long pants and a shirt. (sweat pants, yoga pants, etc. No shorts please.)
Specific techniques can reduce pregnancy discomforts and concerns and enhance the physiological and emotional well-being of both mother and fetus.
Reflexology (30 minute add on session only)
Based on ancient Chinese therapy, reflexology involves manipulation of specific reflex areas in the foot that correspond to other parts of the body. This bodywork involves application of pressure to these reflex zones to stimulate body organs and relieve areas of congestion. Reflexology works with the body's energy flow to stimulate self-healing and maintain balance in physical function. This technique is used to reduce pain, increase relaxation, and stimulate circulation of blood and lymphatic fluids. This 30 minute session can be added into either a 60, 75 or 90 minute session.
Gua Sha is a traditional Asian therapy that involves scraping the skin with a special gua sha tool. Gua Sha helps reduce inflammation and can treat ailments that cause chronic pain such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendon strain, as well as those that trigger muscle and joint pain. It can also help break down scar tissue and connective tissue, improving movement in the joints. It can also benefit the immune system by reducing inflammation. Gua Sha does cause bruising in the area and it can take a few days or a week to heal. This treatment can be added to any massage.
ACE Massage Cupping Therapy
Cupping has been around for thousands of years dating back to early Egypt, China and Greece. It then spread through parts of Africa and Europe and was used by the natives of America. Over the years, China has provided extensive research on the effectiveness and benefits of cupping, and currently uses this method in hospitals. The most prevalent use of cupping therapy has been in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), but is now being used by massage therapists and other healthcare providers.
The suction and negative pressure created by massage cupping releases rigid soft tissue, breaks up and drains excess fluids and toxins, loosens adhesions and lifts connective tissue, and brings blood and lymph flow to stagnant skin and muscle. Glass, plastic and silicone cups are used to create suction. Stationary and massage cupping are most commonly used on the back, neck and shoulders, but by adjusting the size of the cups, this therapy can be used almost anywhere on the body including the feet and face. Stationary cupping, when the cups are left on the skin for a length of time, can leave rings and circles due to toxins and blood moving to the surface. Some marks can be darker than others, the darker the color the more effective that cupping point was for the client. Results are immediate and lasting, with the marks and discoloration fading in about a week. Despite any initial discomfort, many recipients describe cupping as relaxing and therapeutic. Everywhere you look anymore it seems like a new massage therapy place is opening up, but take it from someone who has had chronic pain for over 35 years, they are not all the same! In fact, most therapists are not knowledgeable in medical massage. If you have serious pain and lack of mobility, that is what you need and no one does it better than Bryna Freeman. She gets into areas that no therapist has ever worked before! It is like she feels my pain and knows exactly where I need it the most. If you really want to try something amazing, ask her for “cupping.” “Cupping” increases blood flow to the affected area and removes built up lactic acid and toxins. Most importantly…it works! Bryna is extremely knowledgeable, has many modalities from which to choose, and she couldn’t be sweeter. After going to her for less than a year, I consider her a friend.
I have never had a more satisfying and relaxing massage. Ms. Freeman knows exactly what you need in order to leave her establishment refreshed. I will NEVER go to anyone else! I have been seeing her every week for over a year. Her deep, therapeutic massage is the only thing that gives me relief of severe muscle pain.
I have been a client since A Healing Touch of Lititz opened. I was also a client of Bryna Freeman's previous to her starting her own business. I started seeing her on a monthly basis, then changed to biweekly and now I have an appointment every week. I have fibromyalgia. Bryna's massages help me more than my prescriptions do. I have referred friends and family to Bryna.I have had other massages before I started going to see Bryna, but I will never go to anyone other than her again.
Bryna pays attention to what areas of the body need special attention. She can tell if a part of the body is tight and I guess the bottom line is that she listens to needs of the client and asks the right questions of the client and pays attention to the responses.
I'm so glad my daughter recommended Bryna... I feel so much better since I've been coming to see her.
I've been Bryna's client for a couple of years now. Whenever it is time for my husband to buy me a gift, he buys gift certificates for a massage. It is the perfect gift! One size fits all. I have fibromyalgia (not severe), but massages make me feel so much better. I try to rotate between massage, Shiatsu and reflexology, but it's always a hard choice because they are all great! I have occasionally gone to other massage therapists, but no one tops Bryna.
I would highly recommend Bryna to anyone who is looking for a knowledgeable, skilled and professional massage therapist. Thanks to Bryna's expertise, I have relief from chronic neck and shoulder pain. She intuitively knows how to pinpoint the "sore spots" just right and she knows what is hurting even if I forget to tell her. She adjusts her massage accordingly, providing me with welcome relief. I am incredibly appreciative of her extraordinary abilities. I come away for each massage feeling not only relaxed but also refreshed and at peace. Bryna is a gifted massage therapist and has a true gift of healing.
The best kept secret in Lititz.
You have done the most for me to heal me from my accident. So grateful for you!
Female 23, Mt. Gretna
I have had many massage therapists work on me over the years but none of them have ever come close to the wonderful work that Bryna does. Friendly, knowledgeable, experienced. She's a true professional. Her office is cozy and inviting. Her rates are more than reasonable. Whether it's for therapy or all around wellness, you will be well satisfied with the experience. Bryna is simply the best.
I have known Bryna for a long time and she is the best. I send everyone to her that needs a great massage. I moved to Florida for a few years and she was the first person I looked up when I returned to PA. You won't be disappointed!!
I recently relocated to the Lititz area and was concerned about finding a massage therapist as good as the one I had gone to for years. A friend told me about a Healing Touch and I was thrilled to find Bryna to be professional and thorough and her facility in her home is relaxing and soothing. I hope I never have to move again.
I initially went for a massage for relief for my neck and back. From the first visit, to now, Bryna has relieved the tightness and finds the pain points each time without needing me to point them out. That ability is an indication of her experience and skills!
When I moved to Lancaster in 2007, I spent a few months searching for a massage therapist before finding Bryna. I was a regular client for the 5 years I lived in Lancaster, and, while I can no longer see her on a routine basis, fully intend to make the multiple hour drive periodically -- she is that good. A good massage therapist understands that healing is more than just the physical movements associated with massage -- she both provides and becomes part of the overall healing energy. Bryna is just such a massage therapist.
